Greetings from Miami! You have landed on fresh soil and are looking for a legendary night out on the town. You could do the Miami all-night stretch traversing downtown and the Beach. You could, alternatively, hang with the upper echelons of society and hit up the ultra-VIP clubs for no-holds-barred fun. Then there are the cheap, barebone warehouses where furious and stampeding beats keep the heart rate up.

Miami has something for everyone who wants to dance to their own beat, and this nonexhaustive list will help you explore some of the city's best nightclubs.

It is not hyperbole to claim that Club Space in downtown Miami has shaped the global party scene throughout its two-decades-long tenure. The revered terrace routinely hosts the best and most-in-demand DJs who command the decks as if their lives depended on it, with legends like Marco Carola and Loco Dice among the DJs who are in regular rotation. The hanging garden theme, utterly divine sound system, and sunroof keep the party lasting for 12-plus hours on the weekends, turning night into a day and beer into mimosas as the music keeps going, and going, and going. Pro tip: Try getting there in the morning for a healthy way to enter the weekend with less of a crowd or day-after dread.

Do Not Sit on the Furniture has cemented its status as one of the longest-running nightclubs in South Beach, thanks to the lounge atmosphere and ethereal house music blend. As the club turns 13, its owners, Behrouz and his wife, Megan Nazari, have consistently offered a good time for a low price (usually $30 a ticket). Its spiraling light setup and disco balls are an optical delight, while the underground house DJs keep it deep and thick into the early hours. And yes, you can sit on the furniture.

Your cousin from Fargo may not understand the problem of the club closing at noon and you still craving more music. But a true Miamian worth their salt knows the solution starts and often ends with downtown's E11even. The club is open 24/7 between Wednesday and Sunday. (Hey, even the staff needs a quick disco nap.) Correct, no matter the time, you can walk into the vast club for a drink and a vibe. However, nightlife is still king here, with artists like Rick Ross, Laidback Luke, and Cardi B making appearances. A good rule of thumb is to get to the club early — at E11even, there is no rush.

It is perfectly understandable if staying out all night and into the morning sounds overwhelming. While Floyd opening at 11 p.m. may qualify as "late," the lounge meets club allows you to have fun, listen to good music, and get out of there while the sun is still down in the Western Hemisphere. Floyd is connected to Club Space and molded after the Red Room from Twin Peaks. The luscious red velvet is a constant aesthetic that matches the red lighting. Floyd combines house and techno acts and hosts myriad monthly party series like Natalia Roth's Melódie showcase and the romantic, electronic sets of My Friend Misty.

The term "underground" music is thrown out a lot in Miami, but the phrase "underground venue" may have never been uttered until downtown Flagler's Jolene Soundbar opened up two years ago. The historic basement, with its roots stemming back to the Roaring Twenties, is now an open dance space. Once walking down, groovy music hits your ears, and your eyes catch the large bar in the back. The team at Club Space opened the sound room downtown and brings weekly lineups filled with house and disco talent. The lights above flicker to the beat, setting the room alive with brilliant colors. There are plenty of VIP tables, too, if you're looking to celebrate.

Not everyone craves electronic beats, and that is perfectly fine. Fortunately, clubs like Wynwood's La Otra boast almost-exclusive reggaeton night, where the dembow rhythm has you shaking in a frenzy under the disco balls and foliage. The enclave has a well-worn dance floor, stacked bar, and sound system that can carry the evening into the early morning from Thursday through Saturday.

Whether a birthday, big promotion, or wedding, LIV, located inside the Fontainebleau Miami Beach, is the epitome of treating yourself. Since 2012, the megaclub has been the epicenter of opulence, fame, and EDM. On a given weekend, there will be top talent like Tiësto and Armin van Buuren and hip-hop heavyweights Gucci Mane and Offset. Of course, the production and talent are top-tier, but that comes with a price. A regular general admission ticket usually won't break the bank ($50–$100), but LIV is certainly open to you dropping anywhere from $10,000 to $50,000 on a table. Nonetheless, nowhere else in Florida can you feel the adrenaline of being a true VIP.

The Washington Avenue venue has been home to several notable venues, including Prince's Glam Slam and the Opium Group's Mansion. However, in 2022, it reopened as M2 and immediately got its dance music cred thanks to a partnership with Ultra Music Festival. The homegrown festival and its techno brand, Resistance, has used M2 for seasonal showcases featuring house and techno music's best — think Sasha and Digweed, Carl Cox, and Joris Voorn. In the off-season, however, the party still doesn't stop. M2 and its impressive LED lighting rig still carry on the fun with DJ sets, reggaeton, and hip-hop nights.

Mad Radio

Located inside the Gold Dust Motel in the MiMo District is Mad Radio, nightclub, restaurant, and internet radio station hybrid. It's a relative newcomer, opening just last year, but has already proved its worth. In the lounge adjacent to the Little River, newcomers and veterans of Miami's nightlife scene play their best sounds to clubgoers. The second-floor space houses the restaurant, where a DJ is usually spinning disco as you chow down on chicken wings, fries, and salad. Feeling a little overwhelmed with the dance floor? Step outside for a moment and appreciate the tranquil waters of Little River.

Adding to the growing nightlife scene in the core of downtown Miami is Mode, which opened in 2024 with two floors. Its basement space at some point served as a Cold War fallout shelter. The space was also the longtime home of the jazz bar Le Chat Noir. However, since 2024, it's home to a quality sound system, lighting, and dance floor space. The first-floor space offers lighter music and an inviting atmosphere where you can sip on martinis while enjoying the vibe. While weekends are reserved for house and techno music, weeknights are for jazz and live music.

If you think ZeyZey is only an outdoor event space, you aren't looking hard enough. The Little Haiti hot spot regularly hosts live music, but its indoor space inside the Florida bungalow sees DJs command the decks while partygoers surround them from all sides. Don't worry, though — DJs who command top billing usually play on the outdoor stage, so you won't be crammed into a tight space. And if the stars align, and you take in an outdoor set when the Miami weather is good, it doesn't get any better than that.
