Ready to dink, dance, and dazzle under the neon lights? If you haven’t yet checked out Rave & Pickle, the glow-in-the-dark pickleball party at Sip & Pickle Wynwood Marketplace, you’re missing out on a fresh fusion of nightlife and paddle action.
The spectacle kicked off February 28 and runs every Friday and Saturday through March 29. The poppin’ pickleball experience has been so popular, organizers say, that every session to date has sold out.
Guests will find three courts bathed in blacklight, with neon-painted lines glowing like a scene straight out of Tron. A live DJ spins beats, glow-in-the-dark balls zip around, and players decked out in LED bracelets, necklaces, and UV-reactive gear bring a rave-like intensity to the game. (The glow-in-the-dark ball is included, while organizers recommend bringing other gear.)
"We wanted to give local players what they asked for...extended hours and a new, exciting twist on the game," says Michael Davidson, vice president of Swarm, the event agency behind the experience and owner of Wynwood Marketplace. "It’s one more way of enjoying the space and sport and, so far, it’s been very well received."
For $89 per hour for up to four people (bookable via Bucketlisters), you get a one-hour reservation on the glow-in-the-dark courts and a chance to flex your paddle skills. For a brighter showing, you can rent a glowing paddle for $5.
On the food and beverage front, the Deck, on-site at Wynwood Marketplace, serves up a solid lineup when hunger beckons. Its smash burger, chicken fingers and shredded chicken-doused arepas are among the crowd favorites, all available in the range of $20 or less. Cocktails range from chocolate espresso martinis to lychee coladas for $16. Organizers say Rave & Pickle drink specials are coming soon, so keep a lookout.
As if a neon pickleball rave wasn’t enough, Swarm is already cooking up its next glow-in-the-dark experience — a roller rink coming in late March or early April. The new Wynwood Skate rink (which replaced two of the original pickleball courts on-site late last year) will soon host themed nights dedicated to Bad Bunny, Taylor Swift, Daft Punk, and others. Expect the same glowing energy, but this time, on wheels.
Rave & Pickle. 7 p.m. to midnight Fridays and Saturdays through March 29 at Sip & Pickle at Wynwood Marketplace, 2250 NW Second Ave., Miami; sipandpickle.com. Book reservations via bucketlisters.com.
