Among the raids carried out by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents and other federal officials in South Florida on Sunday, January 26, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) keyed in on five cases in the area.

"Excellent collaboration today by @HSI_Miami, @EROMiami, @TheJusticeDept, and our other law enforcement partners enforcing U.S. #immigration laws and ensuring the safety of our communities," the department posted on X, the platform formerly known as X.

The four photos show HSI agents detaining five individuals — four men and one woman — in South Florida. New Times has emailed the department to learn more about the four cases, particularly if these four people were sought out based on outstanding warrants or merely discovered through door-knocking in the community.
ICE conducted operations across the country on Sunday, including in San Antonio, Phoenix, Atlanta, Denver, and Chicago among other cities after President Donald Trump signed several executive actions on immigration just hours into his presidency. The agency said it arrested 956 people during Sunday's raids.

A HSI spokesperson deferred emailed inquiries to the ICE national media office. Meanwhile, It appears ICE's media phone line is off the hook.

Of the nearly 1,000 people detained, one man told CBS News Miami that ICE "snatched" his wife during a raid in the Brownsville neighborhood in Miami.

He said his wife, who is Venezuelan, was in the process of getting her citizenship and had a court date set up when ICE arrested her. The woman was one of three people detained during the raid, in addition to two men who work in construction.

Her husband added that their 11th anniversary is on Friday. He pleaded with the president to let his wife stay in the country.

"If I get a chance to talk to you, man — please, man — let's work something out. Let me keep my wife here in the United States," he told CBS. "She deserves to be here."
