But at your not-so-typical colleges like the University of Miami (UM), where influencer Alix Earle once roamed campus, and students drive ritzy luxury cars, fraternity sweethearts are not your average college students: they are A-list celebrities.
In an Instagram post on January 8, UM's Theta Chi chapter chose Euphoria and Anybody But You star Sydney Sweeney as its 2025 sweetheart.
"Theta Chi is proud to announce our sweetheart @sydney-sweeney ❤️🌹❤️," the post reads. "Welcome to the family — can't wait to see what the future holds..."

Move over Alix Earle, there is a new star at the University of Miami.

"My favorite group of guys," Sweeney responded. "See you soon ;)."
You may be thinking Sweeney is simply commenting on a viral post — as of 12:30 p.m. on Monday, January 13, the post has garnered 4,838 likes, 146 comments, and nearly 18,000 shares.
But there could be a closer connection between the actress and the UM frat. The fraternity's vice president, Seppe Butera, appears to be on a first-name basis with Sweeney.
His Instagram profile is filled with pictures of himself and Sweeney going as far back as 2022. He was photographed on the red carpet with Sweeney at the 2022 MTV Movie & TV Awards. Just last year, he was on set for the filming of Sweeney's appearance on the popular YouTube show Hot Ones, where host Sean Evans chats with his celebrity guests as they eat progressively spicier chicken wings.
A quick gander at his social media and tagged photos indicates he may be related to Sweeney's fiancé, Chicago-based entrepreneur Jonathan Davino.
Time will tell if Sweeney will indeed show up to a Theta Chi pool party, but it may not be totally out of the question considering the actress has a new $13.5 million pad just a little further south in Key West.
