The Miami-Dade State Attorney's Office (SAO) announced this morning that its office and Miami Beach Police Department chief Wayne Jones will hold a press conference this afternoon to announce the arrest of Oren and his twin brother, Alon, following a joint investigation into sexual assault allegations that occurred in Miami Beach.
New local charges have been filed in connection with the Alexander brothers. See:
"The joint investigation, done with the Miami Beach Police Department, was assisted by the activities of the local FBI office who were providing support to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York," the release reads.
As first reported by the Real Deal, a lawyer representing Oren and Alon Alexander confirmed that all three brothers were arrested but did not specify the charges. A video obtained by the real estate outlet showed Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) agents outside of Oren's Miami Beach home early Wednesday morning ordering Oren to come outside.
Sources told the Real Deal that the Miami-Dade SAO had been interviewing alleged victims in recent months.
As New Times previously reported, a series of lawsuits allege that Oren and his brothers forced three women into group sex in separate incidents in New York dating back to 2010.
Two women filed sexual-assault lawsuits in March against Oren Alexander and his twin, Alon, claiming they were among the victims in a long history of abuse perpetrated by the brothers. One of the women alleges that the twins trapped her in a "castle" in the Hamptons and sexually assaulted her in 2012; the second plaintiff claims the twins raped her two years earlier in their New York City apartment.
A third woman filed a civil case claiming the twins' older brother, Tal Alexander, participated in the abuse. She alleges that Tal and Alon committed a "coordinated sexual assault" on her in Manhattan while Oren watched.
The scandal has rattled the luxury real estate market in Miami and New York, where Oren and Tal built a reputation as top agents for high-priced deals. In light of the allegations, Oren Alexander announced he'd be stepping back from his real estate firm, Official, to fight what he called "baseless civil claims."
