Ladies, gentlemen, and all spicy margarita and tequila lovers, it's time to meet (or re-meet) your new favorite sparkling canned cocktail: SipMargs. Yes, the sparkling margarita brand that bounced around rooftop parties in Miami is officially relaunching with a glow-up bigger than your favorite influencer's skincare routine. And speaking of influencers, social media savant and proud University of Miami alumna Alix Earle is now an investor and brand partner.

Founded by CEO Justin Nabonza, SipMargs secured a $3 million investment led by Palm Tree Crew, the lifestyle brand founded by international DJ Kygo and his partner Myles Shear. The news comes just months after the team opened Palm Tree Club, a restaurant-hotel-venue hybrid in North Bay Village, in December 2024.

The investment, amplified by social media powerhouse Earle, marks a new era for SipMargs, which also has a brand new leadership team, a new margarita recipe, and upgraded cans.

Earle's investment and partnership also mark her first official endeavor into the celebrity-backed spirits space — and she's ready to dive right in. "Being involved in the alcohol space is something that has always interested me, but it was all about finding the right fit," says Earle. "I knew from the second I took a sip — pun intended — that I wanted to get involved. There may have been larger, more established companies looking to collaborate, but pushing myself to take risks and invest in a startup that I believe in felt like a great next step to accelerate me in my entrepreneurial efforts. When I commit to something, I give it my 110 percent effort and trust, so I'm very excited to get everyone trying SipMargs."

Palm Tree Crew and Earle join the existing investor group, Speight Family Ventures. And if you're wondering who else is on this high-powered tequila train — the lineup of investors reads like a "who's who" of cool: NFL star (and Earle's beau) Braxton Berrios, Michael Rubin (Fanatics CEO), Steve Aoki's Aoki Labs, John Green (former Founders Brewing chairman), Jake Paul's Anti Fund, and even Gryffin, and Blondish. "Alix has already been such a creative and hands-on brand partner and investor; we are so excited to be working with her on building the brand and business," says Nabonza. "Additionally, Palm Tree Crew brings expertise in building consumer and lifestyle brands and has provided immediate impact beyond being our lead investor in this round."

Tequila is The Hottest New Spirit in Town

Tequila is becoming more popular than ever before, as seen with the huge success of celebrity-backed brands like Casamigos, Teremana, and others. It is the second-fastest-growing spirits category in the world, having risen 7.9 percent in 2023. Therefore, it's no surprise that there is a demand for a sparkling canned variety.

The brand's relaunch includes a whole new and tastier flavor profile. The new formula is made with premium tequila blanco from Jalisco, Mexico, real fruit juice, cane sugar, natural flavors, and sparkling water. According to the brand, the improved flavor is thanks to the use of real fruit juice and premium tequila, while the updated branding and packaging have a more premium feel.

SipMargs comes in five 12-ounce flavors: classic, mango, coconut, mezcal, and spicy. Each can has five percent ABV, 130 calories, and six grams of sugar. The cans are sold for $10.99 as a four-pack and $18.99 as an eight-pack, so you can sample all the flavors before committing—almost like a tequila tasting, but in your own fridge or backyard cooler.
