Miami Tops List of American Hotbeds for Winter Scandals and Affairs

When it comes to sizzling scandals, Miami is topping the charts yet again.

Famed for our vibrant nightlife, sultry beaches, and unapologetic embrace of all things indulgent, the Magic City now holds the title of America's most adulterous city, according to a fresh report from Ashley Madison, the notorious dating service for married people.

While many might associate cuffing season with couples snuggling through the chilly holidays, Miami residents apparently prefer a steamier winter pastime: nonmonogamy.

But when you're talking infidelity in Florida, Miami is by no means alone. Orlando came in at No. 2 on Ashley Madison's list, Tampa at No. 4.

In an interview with New Times, Paul Keable, the platform's chief strategy officer, shared some additional insights.

First off, we wanted to know: Why Miami?

Keable emphasized that cheating is in no way confined to a single location or demographic but noted, "There's a much younger demographic there, and we've seen a significant increase in Gen Z joining Ashley Madison. They're actually the largest member group joining in 2024 America — which is fascinating, given people assume it's older people."

Views on monogamy have evolved, too, he says.

"We've been interested in tracking people who would not identify as adulterers but rather would identify as disclosed non-monogamists — meaning they are on the site with their partner's consent, if not participation," Keable explains. "They're really interested in that space and want to see what's out there beyond the traditions of monogamy, but they still don't want their family, their friends, and their colleagues knowing about it."

The data do appear to underscore that Florida's year-round allure contributes to the Sunshine State's status as a hot spot for those in search of discreet connections. But that doesn't explain the Minneapolis, Buffalo, and St. Paul, which found prominent places in the Top 10.

On that score, Keable has some thoughts.

"When you have a cold bedroom, a warm partner over the cold months can be something that's a lot of value to somebody," he says. "If you're looking for a partner outside of your primary relationship, the summertime offers a lot of different opportunities where you can meet and greet people, but come the winter, you tend to be indoors a lot more."

If you had Las Vegas at No. 3, congratulations. Cincinnati? Go figure.
