A few weeks after New Times first reported that Magie Wine Bar would be opening a new location near Sereia along Main Highway, the beloved wine bar is ready to pop the cork on its second location. Now open in Coconut Grove, the new location will continue to have its cool atmosphere and killer wine list but with a whole new elevated twist to its food menu! (A favorite local chef is now on board.)

Logistics-wise, Magie's Coconut Grove outpost will stick to the original concept: a serve-yourself wine bar with no reservations, no cover charge, and a focus on creating a laid-back, no-fuss experience for guests. Visitors will be able to choose from an array of bottles (or cans) from an extensive wine list featuring selections from Spain and Portugal. A large portion of the list highlights natural wines and low-intervention options, with some highlights including the Penhó Wines Dialectic Tinto, a bold, full-bodied Portuguese red, and the Brisat Catalan Mas Goma, a light and fresh biodynamic wine from Catalonia, Spain.

However, this location will have an entirely gourmet-inspired menu.

Granny-Chic, Hip-Hop Vibes, and Chef-Driven Bites: Inside the New Coconut Grove Space

The new space, located at 3540 Main Hwy., will feature the similar eclectic and cozy design that made the Little River location so popular. The venue will be decked out in a "granny-chic" aesthetic with emerald green walls, antique touches, and comfortable seating. The soundtrack will feature a mix of European hip-hop, adding to the unique atmosphere that has become a signature part of Magie’s brand.

"We are thrilled about the expansion into the iconic coconut grove neighborhood and look forward to introducing the locals to the Magie experience," says Caroline Strauss, co-owner of Magie. "Having my extremely talented partner by my side adds an extra special bonus in the snacks department."

Yes, you heard it here first — Strauss' beau is none other than homegrown Miami chef Ivan Barros, known for his work at Amara at Paraiso and the Food Network.

A Whole New Menu at Magie Coconut Grove with a Cool New Chef

The new Coconut Grove location introduces a major food upgrade. Led by executive chef Barros — who was most recently the executive chef at Michael Schwartz's Amara at Paraiso — the snack menu is anything but typical bar food. Instead, it will feature elevated dishes designed to complement the extensive wine selection. Think caviar corn dogs, house-made sour cream and onion potato chips with caviar and crème fraîche, and roasted mushroom and truffle pecorino hand pies.

"Magie already has such a strong foundation of wine, beverage, and ambiance," says Barros, co-owner and executive chef. "I'm excited to take the culinary program to the next level while staying true to casual and fun bar bites."

A Miami native, Barros has worked in award-winning kitchens throughout Miami, including at Scarpetta and Macchialina. He later moved to New York City to work on celebrity chef Scott Conant's corporate culinary team and then spent eight years in Los Angeles, eventually opening his own restaurant in Santa Monica. He also took home the win on Food Network’s Ciao House season two, has been seen on the Cooking Channel, and most recently highlighted by Star Chefs.

Other Barros creations on the Magie Coconut Grove menu include crab and corn hush puppies, the caviar-topped "Dino" nuggets that guests may be familiar with from Magie's Little River location, and an array of charcuterie and tinned fish options. Similar to Little River, Magie Coconut Grove plans to partner with local chefs and artisans to host fun pop-ups and themed nights. Previous pop-ups have included Sili, Lazy Oyster, Chikin Boi, and Wolf of Tacos.

For those unfamiliar with the wine bar's original Little River location, Magie is a wine and snack bar that has become a beloved gathering place for those seeking a relaxed atmosphere paired with exceptional wine and great bites. Owner Caroline Strauss, a veteran in the Miami restaurant scene, opened the concept in 2024.
